Astros and GM Dana Brown Part Ways Amid AL West Tie

The Houston Astros have announced a mutual agreement to part ways with general manager Dana Brown, despite the team being tied for first place in the American League West. This decision was made public on Monday, following a homestand where the Astros recorded a 3-6 record.

Brown's contract was set to expire at the end of the season, and the timing of the departure raises questions as the Astros hold a record of 65-66, placing them in a tie with the Texas Rangers for the division lead. Houston has improved significantly since earlier in the season when injuries left them 11 games under .500.

In the interim, senior adviser Jeff Bagwell and several assistant general managers will assume Brown's responsibilities, while team owner Jim Crane will oversee baseball operations. Brown had been with the Astros since January 2023, previously serving as vice president of scouting for the Atlanta Braves.
