Astros Owner Confirms Joe Espada as Manager for Remainder of Season

Houston Astros owner Jim Crane has stated that manager Joe Espada will remain in his position for the remainder of the season, a day after the team parted ways with general manager Dana Brown.

The Astros announced the decision to move on from Brown, whose contract was set to expire at the end of the season, describing it as mutual. In the interim, senior adviser Jeff Bagwell and assistant general managers Charles Cook, Gavin Dickey, and Connor Huff will assume Brown's responsibilities, with Crane overseeing baseball operations.

Espada, who was promoted from bench coach after the 2023 season, has a record of 240-214. He helped the Astros recover from a poor start this year to win their seventh AL West title in eight seasons. Despite recent struggles, Crane emphasized that the team's performance did not influence the decision to dismiss Brown.
