Astros Seek New Manager After Joe Espada's Departure
The Houston Astros are in search of a new manager after announcing that Joe Espada will not return for the 2027 season. This decision follows the team's need for a general manager after Dana Brown's dismissal in August.
As the Astros prepare for a crucial offseason, five managerial candidates have been identified for owner Jim Crane's consideration. Among them is Linares, who has extensive ties to the organization and has been part of the Tampa Bay Rays coaching staff. Other candidates include Spencer Allen, the Milwaukee Brewers' first base coach, and Walker McKinven, the Chicago White Sox bench coach, both of whom have notable coaching backgrounds.
Scott Servais, a former manager of the Seattle Mariners, and Brandon Hyde, a senior advisor with the Rays, are also on the list. Servais has previous experience in the AL West, while Hyde has a history of managing the Orioles. The Astros aim to make strategic hires as they look to improve their performance in the upcoming season.
