Athletics Announce Roster Changes Including Injuries

Kurtz, who previously missed two weeks in July with a thumb injury, has struggled offensively since his return, recording only one hit in his last 40 plate appearances. Despite this, he maintains a season batting line of .256/.396/.483 with 21 home runs. The team has not disclosed how long he will be sidelined. Springs, on the other hand, has had a challenging season with a 6.17 ERA and may face free agency after this year.

In corresponding moves, the A’s reinstated right-handed pitcher J.T. Ginn and recalled infielder Max Muncy from Triple-A. Additionally, left-handed reliever Ben Bowden has been designated for assignment after a brief stint with the team. Bowden's performance has been subpar, leading to his DFA as the team navigates its roster adjustments.
