Athletics Assign Taylor Rashi to Triple-A Las Vegas
The Oakland Athletics have assigned right-hander Taylor Rashi to Triple-A Las Vegas after he went unclaimed on waivers following his designation for assignment. This marks Rashi's first outright assignment in his career.
Rashi, who is 30 years old, joined the Athletics roster in early August after being claimed from the Minnesota Twins. He has spent most of his career in the Arizona Diamondbacks system, accumulating only 22 innings in the major leagues.
With a major league ERA of 5.32, Rashi has performed better in Triple-A, posting a 3.35 ERA over 123 2/3 innings. Despite his struggles with velocity, averaging just 90 mph on his fastball, he has shown effectiveness with his slider and splitter. Rashi will be eligible for minor league free agency at the end of the season if he is not recalled to the majors.
