Athletics Call Up Ben Bowden, Option Luis Morales to Triple-A

The Athletics have announced the promotion of left-handed pitcher Ben Bowden from Triple-A, with right-hander Luis Morales being optioned back to Las Vegas. This decision was made prior to their game against the Tigers on August 1, 2026.

Bowden, 31, previously made his MLB debut with the Rockies in 2021, where he recorded a 6.56 ERA over 39 games. After a series of minor league stints with various teams, he signed a minor league contract with the Athletics and made his return to the majors last summer. This season, he has appeared in 32 games for the Las Vegas Aviators, posting a 5.40 ERA and striking out nearly 29% of batters faced.

In contrast, Morales struggled in his recent outings, allowing 11 runs in just 6 2/3 innings across two games. His return to Triple-A follows this performance, while Bowden is expected to provide additional support to the Athletics' bullpen.
