Athletics Continue Search for New General Manager
The Oakland Athletics are actively seeking a new general manager following the dismissal of David Forst in August. Reports indicate that Brewers assistant general manager Matt Kleine is among the candidates, although it is unclear if he has participated in interviews for the role.
Rob Cerfolio, currently the assistant general manager for the St. Louis Cardinals, has interviewed for the position but is anticipated to remain with the Cardinals, where he may be promoted to general manager under president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom.
Kleine has been with the Brewers since 2007, rising to assistant general manager in 2023, while Cerfolio joined the Cardinals in 2024. The Athletics have also been linked to several other candidates, including James Click and Mike Rizzo, as they continue their search for a permanent front office leader.
