Athletics Send Six Players to Triple-A Las Vegas
The Oakland Athletics have announced the outright assignment of six players to Triple-A Las Vegas as the offseason begins. This move indicates that these players have cleared waivers.
The players affected include right-handers Henry Baez, Joey Estes, and Geoff Hartlieb, along with catcher Brian Serven, infielder Michael Stefanic, and outfielder Johnathan Rodríguez. This decision reduces the A's offseason roster count from 46 to 41, following their recent acquisition of Nate Eaton from the Red Sox.
Estes, who has spent significant time in the minors, recorded a 5.01 ERA over 127 2/3 innings in 2024 but has struggled since then. Hartlieb, who has a career ERA of 7.16, has been designated for assignment multiple times. Serven, despite decent defensive skills, has a low batting average. Stefanic showed promise in limited appearances, while Rodríguez has impressive minor league stats but has not succeeded in the majors. Baez, a former Padres prospect, has yet to make his major league debut.
