Athletics Sign Matt Sauer to Minor League Contract

The Athletics have signed pitcher Matt Sauer to a minor league contract. Although the team has not made a formal announcement, Sauer made his debut for Triple-A Las Vegas recently.

In his first game back in North America, Sauer pitched two innings, allowing one run on two hits, a walk, and hitting a batter. The 31-year-old previously played for the KT Wiz in South Korea, where he had a 4.88 ERA over 18 starts this season.

Sauer, a second-round draft pick by the Yankees in 2017, has experience in the majors with the Royals and Dodgers, where he has a career 6.85 ERA across 24 games. The Athletics may utilize him as either a starter or reliever, as they seek to bolster their pitching staff.
