Atlanta Braves Designate Pitcher Hayden Harris for Assignment
The Atlanta Braves have designated 27-year-old left-handed pitcher Hayden Harris for assignment, allowing them to make room for right-hander Elieser Hernández, whose contract was selected from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Harris, a Georgia native, joined the Braves as an undrafted free agent in July 2022 and made his major league debut in September 2025 after an impressive minor league season. However, his performance in 2026 did not match expectations, as he did not pitch in the majors and struggled with a 5.55 ERA across two minor league levels.
This designation for assignment initiates a seven-day period during which the Braves can trade Harris, place him on waivers, or release him. If he clears waivers, he could be sent to the minors, although he has the option to refuse that assignment and become a free agent.
