Atlanta Dream Advances to WNBA Finals with Victory Over Liberty
The Atlanta Dream has reached the WNBA Finals for the first time since 2013, achieving this milestone with an 85-83 victory against the New York Liberty in Game 3 of their semifinal series.
The Dream took an early lead in a highly physical match, which saw tensions rise between players, including a confrontation between Angel Reese and Sabrina Ionescu. Despite the Dream extending their lead to 12 points in the second half, the Liberty fought back to take the lead into the fourth quarter.
In a tense final stretch, Jordin Canada made a crucial shot to give the Dream a four-point lead, while the Liberty struggled to equalize, with Ionescu committing a turnover and Breanna Stewart missing a key shot. DeWanna Bonner sealed the game with free throws, contributing 13 points and 13 rebounds. Canada finished with 19 points and 11 assists, while Reese added 22 points and nine rebounds. The Dream will face either the Golden State Valkyries or Las Vegas Aces in the Finals starting October 17.
