Aubrey Edwards Discusses Challenges of AEW's Blood and Guts Match

Aubrey Edwards, a prominent referee in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has highlighted the challenges of officiating the Blood and Guts match, which she considers the most difficult stipulation to prepare for. Edwards, who made history as the first female referee to call a main event on both television and pay-per-view, discussed her experiences during a recent interview.

She explained that the unique setup of Blood and Guts, featuring two rings connected by a cage, complicates communication. In the initial year of the match, referees were not allowed inside the cage, making it challenging to relay time cues from a distance. Edwards noted the difficulty of shouting instructions while trying to maintain the match's flow.

Additionally, she mentioned an unexpected aspect of the match that caught her off guard during her first experience: the strong smell of blood, which she described as reminiscent of iron. This sensory challenge added to the complexities of officiating such a high-stakes match.
