Audi Plans to Appeal Yuki Tsunoda's Non-Penalty at Italian GP

Audi has expressed its intention to appeal the FIA race stewards' ruling regarding Yuki Tsunoda's non-penalty during the Italian Grand Prix. The controversy arose when Tsunoda's positioning during a lap 6 restart led to an additional formation lap, which the race director deemed necessary.

Despite Tsunoda being in his designated grid slot, the race director was uncomfortable with his angle, prompting the extra formation lap. The FIA stewards concluded that Tsunoda did not directly cause this lap, as the race director acted out of caution and Tsunoda did not affect other competitors. Consequently, Tsunoda avoided a stop-and-go penalty and finished in 10th place, impacting Audi's Gabriel Bortoleto, who finished 11th.

Audi has raised concerns regarding the application of the relevant regulations, stating that a driver causing an extra formation lap should enter the pit lane. The team has notified the FIA of its appeal intention, allowing them additional time to assess the situation before deciding on a formal appeal.
