Aune Heggebo Receives Two-Match Ban for Handball Goal
Aune Heggebo, a striker for West Bromwich Albion, has been suspended for two matches by the Football Association due to a handball goal scored during a recent match against Norwich City.
The incident occurred in the 75th minute of the game, where Heggebo's goal, which came from a cross by Jimmy-Jay Morgan, was deemed to have been scored with his arm. Following the match, Norwich's head coach, Philippe Clement, described the goal as a pivotal moment that should have been disallowed.
The FA charged Heggebo with breaching Rule E3.1, asserting that he intentionally deceived a match official. Despite West Bromwich Albion's appeal, arguing that the deflection from the Norwich goalkeeper affected the ball's trajectory, the regulatory commission upheld the misconduct charge. As a result, Heggebo will miss upcoming matches against Burnley and Newcastle United.
