Aussie Umpire Ben Treloar Embraces Challenges in Ranji Trophy
Australian umpire Ben Treloar has found his recent experience in India to be both challenging and rewarding. As part of an exchange program between the Board of Control for Cricket in India and Cricket Australia, the 44-year-old officiated in a Ranji Trophy match in New Delhi, where he faced the high demands of First Class cricket.
Treloar is set to officiate one more match, featuring Mumbai and Haryana, before returning to Australia. He noted that adapting to the different playing conditions, particularly the unique pitch at the Palam ‘B’ ground, presented a significant challenge compared to his previous 30 First Class games in Australia. The match saw Delhi score 648 runs, while Gujarat responded with 479.
Treloar remarked on the differences in pitch conditions, stating that the slower black-soil pitch in India posed a new set of challenges. He emphasized the value of this experience in enhancing his skills and understanding of the game.
