Austin Lemieux to Make PGA Tour Debut at Butterfield Bermuda Championship
Austin Lemieux, the son of former NHL star Mario Lemieux, will make his PGA Tour debut at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship this week after qualifying successfully last week.
Lemieux, who is 30 years old and still an amateur golfer, prepared for the tournament by playing nine holes each day since his arrival on Sunday. He previously competed in a Korn Ferry Tour event in Florida, where he missed the cut. The weather conditions in Bermuda are expected to be challenging, with forecasts of high winds and rain.
This qualifier marked only Lemieux's second attempt to qualify for a PGA Tour event, where he finished alongside three other golfers, including medalist Adam Long. He has been honing his skills on the Minor League Golf Tour, where he has achieved a victory. Lemieux aims to navigate the nerves of his debut and hopes to perform well during the tournament.
