Australia Diamonds Face New Zealand Silver Ferns in Constellation Cup Opener

The Australian Diamonds are preparing to face the New Zealand Silver Ferns in the first Test of the Constellation Cup, marking the 16th edition of this series. This matchup comes ahead of the World Cup scheduled for next year in Sydney.

In this game, Courtney Bruce will achieve her 100th Test cap, becoming the seventh player in Diamonds history to reach this milestone. The Diamonds have made several changes to their lineup, including starting Koenen instead of Garbin and shifting captain Watson to center.

Both teams have adjusted their rosters since the Commonwealth Games, with the Silver Ferns missing Catherine Hall due to an ACL injury. The series format has been modified, eliminating the tiebreaker that was previously used, a decision supported by Diamonds midcourter Amy Parmenter. This series is crucial for world rankings, as New Zealand aims to improve its standing after winning gold at the Commonwealth Games.
