Ayush Mhatre Out for a Month Due to Hamstring Injury
Mumbai's cricket team faces a setback as vice-captain Ayush Mhatre has been sidelined for a month due to a recurrence of a right hamstring injury. This injury occurred at the beginning of the Ranji Trophy season, preventing him from participating in the remaining three matches of the first leg.
Mhatre, who recently took on the vice-captaincy role, had previously suffered a similar injury while playing for Chennai Super Kings, which kept him out for nearly five months. He sustained the latest injury after scoring 48 runs in the first innings against Chandigarh at Wankhede Stadium and did not play on subsequent days of the match. Following scans, he was replaced by substitute Suved Parkar.
His absence may allow Angkrish Raghuvanshi, a 22-year-old opener from Kolkata Knight Riders, to step in for the upcoming match against Himachal Pradesh. Raghuvanshi has recently achieved back-to-back double centuries in his performances for the Rest of India Under-23 team and the Mumbai Under-23 side.
