Ayush Mhatre Out for Six Weeks Due to Hamstring Injury
Ayush Mhatre, the vice-captain and opener for the Mumbai Ranji team, is expected to be sidelined for a minimum of six weeks due to a suspected Grade 4 tear in his right hamstring. The injury occurred while he was batting in the team's season opener against Chandigarh at Wankhede Stadium.
Mumbai Cricket Association president Ajinkya Naik announced that Mhatre's recovery will be assessed through consultations between the team's medical staff and the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. Mhatre did not participate in the fielding during the visitors' innings, as Mumbai secured a victory by an innings and 155 runs.
The injury happened while Mhatre was running between the wickets, and he expressed disappointment over the setback. This injury follows a previous hamstring issue that had sidelined him for three months earlier this year while playing for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
