Ayush Mhatre Undergoes Surgery for Hamstring Injury
Ayush Mhatre, the captain of India's U-19 World Cup-winning team and vice-captain of Mumbai, has recently undergone surgery for a right hamstring injury at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai.
The procedure took place on October 22, 2026, and was conducted by Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala. Mhatre is anticipated to be out of action for approximately two to three months as he recovers.
He sustained a Grade 4 tear in his hamstring during the opening match of the Ranji Trophy season against Chandigarh on October 11. This injury follows a previous left hamstring injury he suffered while playing in the IPL in April. Following that injury, Mhatre spent three months in rehabilitation at the BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
As Mhatre recovers, Mumbai has had to adjust their opening pair for the Ranji Trophy, with different players stepping in for the matches following his injury.
