Azzi Fudd to Undergo Season-Ending Knee Surgery
Azzi Fudd, a guard for the Dallas Wings and the first overall pick in this year's draft, is scheduled to undergo season-ending surgery on her right knee. The procedure will take place next week in Connecticut, where she previously played for UConn.
Fudd has been unable to play for the last five games due to knee soreness. She initially came off the bench in her first six games but became a starter after scoring 24 points in her sixth appearance. Her highest scoring game this season was 26 points against Seattle in June, contributing to her average of 13.1 points over 30 games.
The Wings have struggled recently, with a record of 3-8 following a six-game winning streak. Despite this, the team remains in a strong position to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2023. They are set to face the Indiana Fever on Thursday night.
