Baker Mayfield Likely Out for Week 6 Against Steelers

Baker Mayfield, the quarterback for the Buccaneers, is anticipated to miss the Week 6 matchup against the Steelers as he did not participate in practice on Wednesday and Thursday.

Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson indicated during a press conference that Mayfield's recovery from a dislocated right thumb has not progressed sufficiently for him to return to the field. Although Mayfield attempted to throw the ball on Wednesday to assess his readiness, Robinson confirmed that he is not yet able to grip the football effectively.

In Mayfield's absence, undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels will start for the second consecutive game. Daniels previously completed 19 of 25 passes for 189 yards and one touchdown in the Buccaneers' victory over the Cowboys last Thursday.
