Baker Mayfield to Test Thumb in Wednesday Throwing Session
Baker Mayfield, the quarterback for the Buccaneers, has been sidelined for the past two games following a dislocated thumb injury. The team opted not to place him on injured reserve, anticipating a recovery period of at least three weeks.
As two weeks have passed since his injury, Mayfield is set to begin his return with a throwing session scheduled for Wednesday afternoon. Head coach Todd Bowles indicated that Mayfield is improving but emphasized that the team has not yet assessed his throwing ability or grip strength.
Bowles clarified that there has been little discussion regarding an early return for Mayfield, stating that he will not play unless he is fully fit. Currently, backup quarterback Jalon Daniels has taken over, completing 69.1 percent of his passes for 337 yards, two touchdowns, and three interceptions in the last two games.
