Ballon d'Or Announces Multiple Winners by Mistake
The Ballon d'Or was compelled to issue a statement following the accidental publication of multiple articles on its official website, each declaring different winners just before the ceremony scheduled for Monday.
Articles naming Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal, and Kylian Mbappe as winners were published and subsequently removed, leading to chaos among organizers. A spokesperson clarified that these articles were prepared in advance for all nominees and did not disclose the actual podium results, which remain unknown.
The ceremony, taking place in London, has been rescheduled to 8:30 PM GMT, although it is unclear if this change is related to the publishing errors. Confusion arose when an article naming Kane as the winner circulated online shortly after 5:15 PM GMT, more than four hours before the event.
