Baltimore Orioles Promote Pitching Prospect Luis De Leon
The Baltimore Orioles have promoted Luis De Leon, their No. 7 left-handed pitching prospect, as the team's roster expands from 26 to 28 players.
At 23 years old, De Leon has primarily been a starter in the minors but has recently shifted to a relief role to support the bullpen during a critical phase of the season. He is expected to be available for his MLB debut against the Colorado Rockies.
In his last outing for Triple-A Norfolk on August 26, he pitched a scoreless inning, striking out two batters. Throughout the season, De Leon has accumulated 100 strikeouts in 81 innings across 19 starts in Double-A before moving up to Triple-A. His pitching repertoire includes a fastball and sinker reaching 95-98 mph, along with effective secondary pitches.
