Bandido Reflects on the Significance of Arena Mexico for Wrestlers
Arena Mexico is recognized as a legendary venue for wrestlers worldwide, and AEW's Bandido has expressed its profound significance in his career. He recently participated in the Grand Slam Mexico edition of AEW Dynamite, marking another appearance at this iconic location.
In an interview on AEW Close-Up, Bandido shared that wrestling at Arena Mexico has been a lifelong dream. He first visited the venue at age 16, accompanied by a small wrestling group from his hometown, and felt an overwhelming desire to perform there. For many luchadors, competing at Arena Mexico is seen as a rite of passage, with Bandido noting that it symbolizes a true achievement in their careers.
He compared Arena Mexico to other prestigious venues like Korakuen Hall and Madison Square Garden, emphasizing its status among wrestlers. Bandido faced a four-year ban from the venue due to his previous ties with AAA, but this restriction was lifted in 2025 following AEW's collaboration with CMLL.
