Barcelona Signs Kerolin from Man City for Record £1.25m
Barcelona has officially signed Brazilian forward Kerolin from Manchester City, breaking their transfer record with a deal valued at around £1.25m. This transfer represents the largest fee ever received by a Women's Super League club, surpassing Olivia Smith's £1m transfer to Arsenal from Liverpool last summer.
Kerolin joined Manchester City in January 2022 and had two years remaining on her contract. Barcelona prioritized her acquisition after losing several key players to WSL clubs, including Alexia Putellas and Mapi Leon. Previously, Barcelona's most expensive transfer was Keira Walsh, who moved from Manchester City for €470,000 (£400,000) in 2022.
During her time at City, Kerolin scored nine goals in 15 league matches, contributing to the club's first WSL title since 2016. Her move to Barcelona marks her as the most expensive export from the English top flight, as the club has historically not paid more than £500k for a player.
