Baylor Fires Head Coach Dave Aranda Mid-Season
Baylor University has dismissed head coach Dave Aranda in the midst of his seventh season, as reported by multiple sources. This decision came shortly after the team suffered a 25-24 defeat to Kansas, where they relinquished an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter, bringing their season record to 4-3.
Despite maintaining a winning record, Baylor has struggled against Power Conference teams, holding a 2-3 record in such matchups. The Bears face a challenging schedule ahead, with upcoming games against UCF, BYU, Texas Tech, and Houston.
Aranda's time at Baylor began positively, leading the team to a 12-2 record and a Sugar Bowl victory in 2021 after a difficult 2-7 season in 2020. However, the team has only been bowl-eligible twice in the last four years, including a 5-7 record in 2025. Defensive coordinator Joe Klanderman is expected to take over as interim head coach.
