BCCI Organizes Selection Trials for Arunachal Pradesh Teams
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has intervened to stop Arunachal Pradesh from forfeiting additional matches this season by arranging selection trials for the state's men's and women's teams across different age groups, including seniors.
This action comes after Arunachal Pradesh forfeited its opening match in the Ranji Trophy against Nagaland and failed to field teams in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and Under-19 women’s T20 Trophy due to a legal dispute within the Arunachal Cricket Association (ACA), which is currently before the Gauhati High Court’s Itanagar Bench.
M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar, a member of the BCCI Apex Council, will oversee the selection process, which will be conducted by an independent panel of former Assam players. The panel is tasked with selecting teams for various tournaments, including the Ranji Trophy and senior women’s T20 Trophy. To ensure fairness, the BCCI has publicized the trials in newspapers and emphasized that the selection will be free from local interference.
