Bears' Joe Thuney Seeks Clarity on Left Tackle Position
As the Chicago Bears prepare for the upcoming season, left guard Joe Thuney is seeking clarity on which player will be the starting left tackle beside him. The team's official depth chart currently lists four players as co-No. 1 left tackles.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson acknowledged the challenge this uncertainty poses for Thuney, who is eager to establish a rapport with his future teammate. The candidates for the position include Braxton Jones, Jedrick Wills, Kiran Amegadjie, and Ozzy Trapilo. Johnson emphasized the importance of having a cohesive offensive line, noting that last season it took until the bye week for the unit to start functioning effectively.
Johnson stated that the decision on the starting left tackle will be based on performance during training camp and preseason, with the best tape determining who secures the position.
