Bears May Pursue Khalil Mack After Recent Trade
The Chicago Bears have made a significant move by trading three draft picks, including two first-round selections, to the Tennessee Titans for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons. This trade, completed on Thursday, is likely the last major deal for the Bears before the upcoming trade deadline on November 10, but they may still look to enhance their defense further.
Reports indicate that the Bears are expected to inquire about Khalil Mack, a former player who had a successful stint with the team from 2018 to 2021 before being traded to the Los Angeles Chargers. Currently, the Bears hold a 5-2 record and are vying for their second consecutive NFC North title. The addition of Mack could complement their existing edge rushers and bolster a defense that is already ranked in the top ten for sacks and pass rush efficiency.
Despite being 35 years old and not at his peak performance level, Mack remains a strong player, having recorded six quarterback hits, five tackles for loss, and three sacks this season. However, the Chargers, who are struggling with an 0-6 record, have been reluctant to trade veterans like Mack. General manager Joe Hortiz may reconsider if the Chargers continue to perform poorly before the trade deadline, but financial constraints could complicate any potential deal for the Bears.
