Bears Safety Coby Bryant Undergoes Knee Surgery, Out for 4-6 Months

Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson has confirmed that starting safety Coby Bryant has undergone knee surgery, which will delay his return to the field by 4-6 months.

Bryant suffered a knee injury during training camp, leading to initial reports of an 8-10 week recovery period. However, further evaluation revealed a more severe injury, necessitating surgery. This extended timeline means Bryant is likely to miss most of the regular season, although there is a possibility he could return for the playoffs.

The Bears had high expectations for Bryant, who was signed to a three-year, $40 million contract to revamp their safety position. Defensive coordinator Dennis Allen expressed disappointment over the loss but noted it presents an opportunity for other players, particularly Xavier Woods, who has been brought in as a potential replacement.
