Bears Sign Defensive Back Beanie Bishop

The Chicago Bears announced the signing of defensive back Beanie Bishop on Sunday as they work to bolster their defensive lineup.

This move follows the recent addition of Xavier Woods, Brandon Hill, and William Wright, and comes after safety Coby Bryant sustained a knee injury that will sideline him for an extended period. Additionally, Cam Lewis left practice with an injury, and Kyler Gordon and Elijah Hicks have not participated in training this summer.

Bishop, who went undrafted in 2024, played every game for the Pittsburgh Steelers that season, recording 45 tackles, four interceptions, a half-sack, and a fumble recovery. However, he spent last season on the practice squads of Pittsburgh and New Orleans. It is important to note that Bishop is suspended for the first three games of the 2026 season, which means he will not be available to assist the Bears in the early part of the upcoming season. In a related transaction, the Bears waived long snapper Luke Elkin.
