Bears Trade Gervon Dexter to Falcons for Clark Phillips and Draft Pick

The Atlanta Falcons have acquired defensive tackle Gervon Dexter from the Chicago Bears in a trade involving cornerback Clark Phillips III and a fifth-round draft pick for 2027. This transaction was confirmed by a league source who requested anonymity.

Gervon Dexter, 24, was selected in the second round of the 2023 draft and has played 32 games for the Bears, accumulating 115 tackles and 13.5 sacks. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 326 pounds, he joins a revamped defensive line in Atlanta, which has also added players like Da’Shawn Hand and Maason Smith this offseason. Dexter's move comes as Hand's injury status remains uncertain.

In the trade, the Bears gain cornerback depth with Phillips, who is entering a contract year. The Bears have faced challenges in their secondary, particularly with the absence of nickel corner Kyler Gordon. Meanwhile, Falcons secondary coach Justin Hood has noted Phillips' focus on consistency in his play.
