Belfast Giants Defeat Cardiff Devils 4-1, Ending Home Winning Streak
The Cardiff Devils experienced their first home defeat of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) season, losing 4-1 to the Belfast Giants at Vindico Arena.
After a scoreless first period, Belfast took the lead in the second with goals from David Goodwin on a powerplay and Scott Conway. Logan Cockerill added to the Giants' advantage early in the third period, but Thomas Caron scored for the Devils, marking his first goal for the team. The Giants responded with a penalty shot goal from Kaleb Pearson, restoring their three-goal lead.
Despite the loss, Cardiff remains at the top of the EIHL standings with nine points from six games. They are set to host the Guildford Flames on October 31. The Devils have also advanced to the Challenge Cup semi-finals, following recent victories against Nottingham Panthers and Sheffield Steelers. Coach Paul Thompson noted the team's fatigue from the previous weekend's games, which may have contributed to their performance against Belfast.
