Ben Affleck Clarifies Yankees Hat Dispute During 'Gone Girl' Filming
Ben Affleck has clarified the well-known dispute that occurred during the filming of 'Gone Girl' regarding his refusal to wear a New York Yankees hat. This incident reportedly caused significant delays in production.
The controversy arose when director David Fincher insisted that Affleck's character, Nick Dunne, wear the Yankees hat in an airport scene. Affleck, a Boston Red Sox fan, argued that it would distract viewers and ultimately compromised by wearing a New York Mets hat instead.
During a recent podcast, Affleck suggested that Fincher exaggerated the story for comedic effect, stating that the discussion over the hat lasted only about 20 minutes. Despite the rumors claiming that the dispute cost the film $40 million, 'Gone Girl' went on to earn over $370 million worldwide against a budget of approximately $60 million.
