Ben Johnson Leads NFL in Fourth Down Attempts
Ben Johnson, head coach of the Bears, has established himself as the most aggressive coach in the NFL regarding fourth down attempts, having gone for it 17 times this season. This surpasses Lions coach Dan Campbell, who has attempted fourth downs 13 times, ranking his team sixth in the league.
In a recent game against the Packers, Campbell made a notable fourth down attempt from his own 24-yard line late in the fourth quarter. While the Lions have punted twice more than the Bears, Chicago has attempted five more field goals than Detroit.
Johnson's aggressive strategy was evident from the season's start when he opted to go for it on fourth-and-1 from his own 21-yard line against the Panthers in Week 1. Although the attempt resulted in no gain, the Bears won the game, reflecting Johnson's commitment to building a high-scoring offense.
