
Ben Kanute Prepares for Kona with Optimized Bike Setup
Ben Kanute, a seasoned competitor in triathlon, is preparing for the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, where he aims to improve upon his previous performance. Known for his podium finishes, Kanute has secured second place at the 70.3 World Championships in both 2017 and 2022.
Transitioning to full-distance racing in 2022, he achieved a third-place finish at IRONMAN Arizona and repeated this at Challenge Roth the following year. His debut in Kona in 2024 was challenging, resulting in a 31st place finish, just ahead of Lionel Sanders. In the lead-up to the 2026 season, Kanute has focused on key races, including a runner-up finish at IRONMAN 70.3 Dallas and an eighth-place finish in Oceanside, culminating in a 14th place at IRONMAN Texas with a time of 7:38:06.
His training reached a peak at Lake Placid, where he recorded his fastest full-distance marathon time of 2:43, showcasing his capability on a demanding course. Kanute is expected to be a strong contender in the upcoming race in Kona.
