Ben Simmons Begins Kings Season in Recovery Mode
Ben Simmons is starting the Sacramento Kings' season while wearing a walking boot and using a knee scooter due to an Achilles injury. He sustained a torn right Achilles tendon during practice on October 18 and underwent surgery on October 20.
In a recent interview, Simmons expressed confidence in his abilities, stating that he considers himself a unique player in the league. He has not played in an official NBA game since April 2025 and missed the entire 2025-26 season due to previous injuries. The Kings signed him to a $3 million contract after observing his workouts in Miami.
Before his injury, Simmons averaged 10.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists in two preseason games. However, the Achilles injury is expected to sideline him for the entire 2026-27 season, delaying his return to competitive play for over two years.
