Ben Simmons Injures Achilles, Likely Out for Season
Ben Simmons, guard for the Sacramento Kings, has sustained a torn right Achilles tendon during practice, as confirmed by the team. This injury is expected to sideline him for the entire 2026-27 season, although no specific recovery timeline has been provided.
Simmons had recently signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with Sacramento and was anticipated to be part of the starting lineup for the season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers. He participated in two preseason games, averaging 10.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists.
The three-time NBA All-Star was set to play alongside teammates Darius Acuff Jr., Zach LaVine, Keegan Murray, and Domantas Sabonis. Simmons had expressed his aspirations for a comeback after missing the entire 2025-26 season due to back and leg injuries. His last NBA appearance was in the 2024-25 season, where he played 51 games for the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Clippers.
