Benjamin Watson Reflects on Career-Altering Injury a Decade Later
Benjamin Watson, a former NFL player, recently reflected on a significant injury he sustained during a Baltimore Ravens preseason game against the Detroit Lions in 2016. While running a route, Watson tripped and ruptured his Achilles, which led to him being carried off the field without being able to put weight on his right leg.
In an Instagram post marking the ten-year anniversary of the injury, Watson recounted how he missed the entire 2016 season and faced challenges during his rehabilitation. He expressed gratitude for the support he received from family and friends during this difficult time, as well as the personal growth he experienced, including writing a book and hosting Bible studies.
Watson, who had signed with the Ravens after a successful season with the New Orleans Saints, faced multiple injuries throughout his career, including a torn ACL in his rookie season with the Patriots. Despite these setbacks, he achieved notable success, including winning a Super Bowl and finishing his career with impressive statistics. Watson ultimately retired in 2020 after a brief return to the Patriots.
