Bennedict Mathurin Signs Two-Year Deal with Pelicans

The New Orleans Pelicans have finalized a two-year contract with free agent Bennedict Mathurin, valued at $16 million, which includes a player option for the second year.

Previously a restricted free agent, Mathurin's representatives negotiated with the Los Angeles Clippers to withdraw his qualifying offer, allowing him to sign directly with New Orleans. The Clippers are expected to cooperate in this process, although they have not yet formally rescinded the offer.

Mathurin, who averaged 17.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game last season, will join a Pelicans backcourt that includes Dejounte Murray and Jordan Poole. The Pelicans have been interested in Mathurin for over a year and view him as a key part of their future roster.
