Berkey Creamery Launches New Ice Cream Flavor for Penn State's Milestone

The Berkey Creamery has unveiled a new ice cream flavor, named One Million Scholar’s Chip, to celebrate the milestone of Penn State awarding its one millionth degree on Saturday.

This limited-time flavor, which was chosen through a vote by the Penn State community, will be available from August 24 until the end of the year. The creamery's operations manager, Doug Thomas, expressed pride in being part of this celebration, highlighting the creamery's long-standing connection to the university.

The new flavor features vanilla ice cream enhanced with additional vanilla bean and chocolate chips. Other flavor finalists included One Milla Vanilla Bean and Million Strong Strawberry. On the day of the celebration, Penn State awarded nearly 2,700 diplomas, officially surpassing the one million degree mark. In addition to the ice cream launch, Governor Josh Shapiro will issue a statewide proclamation recognizing this historic achievement.
