Bernie Ecclestone Arrested in Portugal for Carrying Shotgun

Bernie Ecclestone, the former CEO of Formula 1, was arrested at Tires Aerodrome in Cascais, Portugal, after allegedly bringing an undocumented shotgun to the airport. His private jet had just landed when the incident occurred, prompting a routine inspection by the Portuguese Public Security Police.

Ecclestone acknowledged that he did not have the necessary documentation for the firearm, which he claimed was intended for clay-pigeon shooting. He stated that he was held for several hours at the airport while the situation was resolved. His wife, Fabiana Flosi, traveled to Lisbon to assist him during the ordeal.

This is not the first time Ecclestone has faced legal issues related to firearms; he was previously arrested in May 2022 in Brazil for carrying a gun without proper authorization. He described that incident as a minor issue and paid bail before continuing his travels.
