Big Ten Acknowledges Officiating Error in UCLA vs. Oregon Game
The Big Ten acknowledged an officiating error on Sunday that impacted Oregon's performance during their game against UCLA, which took place the previous day at Autzen Stadium. The Ducks lost the match 17-15.
During a critical moment with 2:16 remaining, Oregon attempted a 2-point conversion. A facemask penalty was called on UCLA's Sammy Omosigho, but officials incorrectly marked the penalty from the original line of scrimmage instead of half the distance to the goal. This error forced Oregon to attempt a run from the 1½-yard line, which was unsuccessful.
After the game, the Big Ten stated it would address the officiating team's error and focus on consistent rule application. The Ducks later regained possession but could not score, ending the game with a fumble at UCLA's 33-yard line. This victory marked UCLA's first win at Autzen Stadium since 2004 and improved their record to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Big Ten.
