Bill Belton Injures Achilles Celebrating Coaching Win
Bill Belton, a former running back for Penn State, suffered an Achilles tendon injury while celebrating his inaugural win as head coach of St. Augustine Preparatory School on Friday.
During the celebration of a late touchdown, Belton jumped in excitement but felt a pop upon landing, indicating he had torn his Achilles. He expressed his joy for the players despite the injury, describing the night as one of the craziest experiences of his life.
Belton previously accumulated 1,763 all-purpose yards during his time with the Nittany Lions from 2013 to 2014, notably scoring a game-winning touchdown in a quadruple-overtime match against Michigan. After serving as the offensive coordinator at Winslow Township High School, he became the head coach at St. Augustine Prep this year. His team is set to face Atlantic City High School on September 5.
