Bills Replace Grass Field Ahead of Regular-Season Opener

The Buffalo Bills are set to host their first regular-season game at their new stadium in six days, prompting the team to replace the grass field after only two preseason games.

Field expert Nick Pappas noted that the initial grass installation suffered from major deformations, which led to the decision for replacement. He explained that issues stemmed from sod quality, management challenges, and the new growing environment prior to the Bills' grounds crew taking over maintenance.

The new sod is expected to be thicker than the previous version, but preparing the field for three home games in quick succession poses a challenge. Pappas indicated that another replacement might be necessary during the season, depending on weather conditions and field recovery.
