Bills to Replace Grass Field at New Stadium Before Home Opener

The Buffalo Bills are set to replace the grass field at their new stadium before their home opener against the Lions, following concerns raised during their first preseason game. Lance Lysowski from the Buffalo News confirmed that the entire playing surface will be replaced in time for the Week 2 Thursday night game. Although the current field passed inspection for the preseason finale against the Steelers, Bills officials stated their commitment to providing the best possible playing surface.

Divots were identified as a key issue, and while the replacement aims to minimize their occurrence, officials acknowledged that some divots will still be present due to the nature of a living grass field. Maintaining a high-quality grass surface requires significant effort and resources, but players generally prefer grass over artificial turf.
