Billy Corgan Discusses Future of Wrestling and Niche Market Concerns
Billy Corgan recently shared his views on the future of wrestling during an interview on the Battleground Podcast, asserting that the best times for the sport are still ahead.
Corgan emphasized that wrestling should be a mainstream product rather than a niche offering aimed at a smaller audience. He compared the current trend of niche marketing in wrestling to independent music, suggesting that while it can be appealing, the most successful events attract the largest audiences. He believes wrestling is at its best when it engages a wide demographic, from young children to older adults.
In addition to his thoughts on wrestling's appeal, Corgan noted that the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) has seen an increase in streaming numbers after releasing individual matches. The NWA recently celebrated its 78th anniversary show and has upcoming events scheduled in Tampa, Florida, and Sevierville, Tennessee, among other locations.
