Billy Gunn Reflects on Unexpected Wrestling Career in AEW
Billy Gunn's journey in AEW evolved from a coaching role to actively participating in matches alongside his sons, Austin and Colten, as part of The Gunn Club. He later adopted the 'Daddy A**' persona and achieved success by winning the AEW World Trios Championships with Max Caster and Anthony Bowens.
Initially, Gunn's contract limited him to 12 matches per year, but he found himself wrestling more frequently than anticipated. He held two contracts with AEW, one for in-ring talent and another for backstage duties. Despite his age, he maintained that he was in good shape and capable of competing with younger wrestlers.
At 62, Gunn acknowledged that he was not expected to be wrestling at his age, but his commitment to fitness allowed him to stay active and engage with younger talent. He expressed enjoyment in working out, which also helps him connect with his children and fellow wrestlers.
